Dr. Michele Wright

Veterinarian & Owner

Dr. Michele Wright grew up in her parent’s veterinary practice here in San Antonio, Texas.  After high school she attended Texas A&M University receiving her bachelor degree in Biomedical Science and her Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine.  In August 2016, Dr. Wright and her husband, Travis Wright, DVM took ownership of Great Northwest Animal Hospital.  Dr. Wright comes to Great Northwest with years of skill and experience in treating tough internal medicine cases, addressing primary care concerns, and the ability to perform advanced soft tissue surgical procedures.

Dr. Wright has two wonderful cats, Jasmine and Ariel, and a Golden Retriever named Beamer.  In 2015 the doctors’ Wright welcomed their first child, Allison, who is their pride and joy.  When not working Dr. Wright gets pleasure from baking and decorating cakes, making homemade cards, sewing and crafting.

Dr. Travis Wright

Veterinarian & Owner

Dr. Travis began his career path at Texas A&M University where he studied Biomedical Science and earned his doctorate at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, he started working with horses in the sports medicine field focusing on lameness evaluation and wellness services. He later changed his focus to small animal medicine where he has taken an interest in wellness care, surgery and dermatology. Dr. Travis brings with him numerous years of experience in treating advanced cases of Canine and Feline Atopy, Autoimmune diseases, and advanced soft tissue surgical procedures.

Dr. Travis, along with his wife, Dr. Michele, are owners of Great Northwest Animal Hospital. They both look forward to years of serving pets and their owners in Northwest San Antonio.

When not working, Dr. Travis likes to spend time on the water with his wife, Dr. Michele, and daughter, Allison. He enjoys both lake fishing and off-shore fishing. He also greatly enjoys skeet and trap shooting, welding, and home construction projects.

Karen Southerland

Office Manager

Karen became a member of the Great Northwest Animal Hospital staff Sept. 5, 2000. She is married to Larry and they have 2 cats. They have lived in San Antonio since 1997 when they moved from Heidelberg, Germany where Larry was stationed with the US Army. Karen is a native of south Louisiana and enjoys cooking, singing, & making wreaths. She is a member of Northwest Community Church where she sings on the Praise Team.

Stephanie Lavender

Veterinary Technician

Stephanie was born and raised here in San Antonio and has been with Great Northwest Animal Hospital since June 4th, 2001. She is married to James Dean. They have four furr-kids: 3 dogs and 1 cat. She enjoys road trips, antiquing, gardening, and cruising with her husband in their VW bus.

Casey Palombo

Veterinary Technician

Casey was born and raised here in San Antonio. She graduated from Sandra Day O’ Connor High School in 2006. Casey became a proud mommy to a baby boy in January of 2015. Her furry children include 2 dogs, Lady and Ranger. She loves summertime, hiking and going to the lake. She has worked at Great Northwest Animal Hospital since June of 2014.

Julia Hoyack

Licensed Veterinary Technician, LVT

Julia was born and raised in San Antonio. She graduated from the Palo Alto Veterinary Technology Program in 2014 and obtained her Veterinary Technician License in 2015. She has a Shepherd/Heeler Mix who loves to roam around at her parents’ house in the country.

When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends whether it’s hanging out at the pool or going out to dinner. Her dream is to do a short term volunteer trip at a Wildlife Rescue in Africa so she can decide if that is what she wants to do full time.

Karla Chapa

Receptionist

Karla joined the Great Northwest Animal Hospital team in July 2015. She comes from a small town in south Texas. Karla loves spending time with family and watching Spanish TV to maintain her Spanish language skills.

Jill Williams

Receptionist

Jill joined our team in August 2016 bringing with her many years of experience in the veterinary field. Her plans are to continue her education to become a certified veterinary practice manager.

She enjoys Netflix marathons and spending time with her family and friends as well as her 4-legged kids; Radar, Natalie, and Jasper.

Jill has a passion for the performing arts and has performed with various colorguards, marching bands, and concert bands over the years. She plays the trombone and the tenor saxophone.

Elizabeth Alfaro

Receptionist

Elizabeth joined the Great Northwest team in October 2016 with over 13 years of experience in the veterinary field. Her first veterinary job was in a boarding department, then she helped out as a technician assistant, but finally found her place at the front desk.

She has a son, as well as two four legged babies and enjoys reading or binge watching Law & Order SVU during her time off.
